Stop Wearing the Wrong Bra

Whether you open a magazine or turn on the television, you are likely to be inundated with advertisements for the next, best solution to your bra problem. And yet, with all of the choices, it is estimated by industry experts that 80-85% of women continue wearing the wrong size bra.

Age, weight fluctuation and gravity play significant roles in changing bra sizes over time.

Manufacturers say that the average size of the American breast has grown from 36C to 36DD and note that many curvier women are reluctant to accept wearing a D cup or larger. Still, it is estimated that up to 40% of women should actually be wearing a D cup or above.

The right bra can literally perform miracles. It can reverse the appearance of aging and make a woman look 15 or 20 pounds lighter. When the ‘girls’ are contained, you’ll rediscover your waistline!

What are some of the signs that you may need a different size?

· Does your underwire poke your breast?

· Are your breasts spilling out of your bra cups in front or under the arms?

· Is the strap across your back riding up?

· Are your breasts not where they used to be under your clothes? No wants low hanging breasts!

· Have you gained or lost 10-15 pounds without considering a different size bra?

· Have you been pregnant or nursed a child and notice a different fit in your bra?

· Have you just never felt that you’ve found a comfortable fit?

It’s important to understand the science behind women’s products. My background in the medical industry has been invaluable in developing products that meet the needs of women with curves.

A woman’s breast is three-dimensional, with weight that needs to be lifted based on age, gravity and size. The cup of a 34D is not the same as the cup of a 38D. Women need to understand all of the aspects of a good fit, and not get hung up on letters and numbers. If you’re a DDD, lift them, support them and be grateful for them!

I teach women about proper fit, and we do private fittings at our office.

The band size comes first, and surprise, you do not measure under the breast for accuracy! Rather, wrap the measuring tape around your back, under the arms and above the breast at the cleavage. This will provide a more accurate measurement, especially as we age.

For cup size, wrap the measuring tape around your back and across the fullest part of the bust. Subtracting this number from the band measurement is a guide to the proper cup. The difference establishes cup size with a 1 inch difference being an A, and up to 7 inches of difference being a DDDD. It’s not an exact science but an excellent guide, though women should know that brands vary.

Remember, your bra should be like a good friend that you love to be around because she’s ‘uplifting and supportive’!

MY FAV....The "AMY" CAMI GO2 Bra

My personal favorite from the GO2 BRA line is AMY the cami bra. I absolutely LOVE this bra. I wear it more frequently than any other style.
It is perfect to wear under a jacket or lower neckline top, when you don't want the extra layer of bulk in your mid section, but want or need the stylish layered look.

Hi ladies!

Just wanted to share this recipe with you as I heat up my leftovers from last night’s dinner. I know this is a bit different from my normal posts, but I made this delicious soup and I thought you’d all really enjoy it! Let me know if you try it and what you think. Yum!

Ingredients:

1 lb. Italian sausage (I use half hot, half mild)

6 cups chicken broth

2 cans (14-1/2 oz. each) un-drained diced tomatoes (sometimes I use 1 can of Rotel to substitute for 1 can of tomatoes)

2 cups dry lentils, rinsed

1 large onion, chopped

2 large carrots, chopped

1 small zucchini, chopped

1 stalk celery, chopped

1 cup fresh baby spinach, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp. salt

Black pepper, red pepper flakes, basil, oregano, parsley, and thyme to taste

Directions:

Brown sausage; drain off fat.

Combine all ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour, or until lentils are tender. Add water, if necessary, for desired consistency.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve.

Yum, yum, yum!

SPRING FASHIONS AT THEIR BEST!

Spring seems to be a time we all reveiw our wardrobe from the last warm season and evalutate what items we need to add. The one part of our wardrobe that seems to be left out of this process many times, is our collection of undies. Somehow we don't consider undies to be seasonal, yet they are.

Spring brings lighter fabrics and colors and we shead our jackets. There are many special occasions this time of year to attend like weddings, teas, showers, graduations, outside parties and so much more. Wardrobe choices for special occasions sometimes can be challenging. I have a few things for you to consider, when you review your wardrobe and make decisions about what needs to stay and go.

Your favorite undies, be it a bra, panties or shapewear piece... most likely are worn out and need replacing. This happens because you love them and wear them often. Most undies have spandex in them and if you have worn them alot, you have washed them alot. If they are over 6-12 months old they may not be holding you up and in, like when they were new. This is especially true if you or someone in your household puts them in the dryer. The heat of the dryer will breakdown the effectiveness of spandex.

Items like a convertible bra or a strapless bra may not see as much wear, but try it on, make sure it still fits as it should. If you only wear shapewear for special occasions, just make sure you have the pieces you need for any events you plan to attend this spring and summer. Skin Care TIPS for 40+

If you haven't taken skin care seriously before now, you can't avoid it any longer. Find a product line that fits your budget, philosophy of good quality active ingredients, and use it routinely. Eye serum or eye cream is a must.

TIPS TO PREVENT WRINKLES IN YOUR 30's!

I had a great morning today at QVC. Many of you ladies called to get one of our fabulous shaping camis. THANK YOU! Jayne and Pat pointed out how slimming LIPO IN A BOX products are without be uncomfortable. We had a fabulous testimonial caller who stated she had bought her first one 2 years ago and was coming back for more colors. Yes...they last a long time with proper care.

This cami is seamless and truly shapes you. I strongly suggest stepping into it, rather than putting it over your head. Put it on like a bottomless bathing suit, then adjust the bust area and the straps, just like you do your favorite bra. Tip to Prevent Wrinkles in your 20's!

I personally was honored to be a participant on two levels; as the designer of LIPO IN A BOX shapewear and as a member of the board of directors of Soles4Souls, the charity who was the benficiary of this fabulous event.

The designers whose incredible fashion where displayed by the talented team of models were Alain Patterson, Dylan Stephens, Nicole Cooley, Olia Zavozina. Several of the fashions wore LIPO IN A BOX shapewear to provide the perfect foundation for the outfit.

I am very pale and have many freckles, and the tint just brings out the color in my skin and makes it glow. The SPF 40 is great for protection so I don't have to worry when I go out in the sun! Most moisturizers that contain SPF above 20 tend to feel very thick and heavy. However, "Fabulous 40" goes on very light and you can't even feel it once it has been applied. It is so important to size yourself properly for bras and experience
more comfort and a better look, immediately!

Wearing a proper fitting bra can make you appear slimmer!

Eight out of ten women more than likely are wearing the wrong size bra. As women, we tend not to make adjustments in our bras sizes for weight changes or simply having more birthdays behind us. Wearing the correct bra size can make you look younger, feel better, and create more fashion choices for all of us, at any age.

Below are few questions to ask:

1. Does your underwire poke into your breast?
2. Are your breasts spilling out of your bra cups?
3. Is the strap across your back riding up?
4. Are your breast not where they used to be in clothes?
5. Have you considered trying a different bra size in the last 5 years?
6. Have you gained or lost even 10-15 lbs without considering a different size bra?

Remember...
bras can be comfortable and enhance your appearance!

BRA SIZING TIPS:
(make sure you are in the correct bra size for you)

* Band size first: (keep your bra on for measurements)
Let's do something a bit different...snugly wrap your measuring tape around your back, under your arms and above your breast (where your cleavage is). This can be a more accurate band measurement for most of us. Things like breathing or excess skin can alter the measurement when you measure below the breast at the ribcage. Size up or down to the nearest bra band size. This is your band measurement.
* Cup Size: (keep your bra on)
Wrap your measuring tape around your back and across the fullest part of your bust line. The tape should not be pulled tight, just gently pulled. To arrive at your cup size, subtract your band measurement from this measurement. Use the chart below to establish your cup size.
o 1 inch - A
o 2 inches - B
o 3 inches - C
o 4 inches - D
o 5 inches - DD
o 6 inches - DDD
o 7 inches - DDDD
Example: If your band measurement is 38 and your cup size measurement at the fullest part is 44, you are a 38 DDD. This is a guide; not an exact science.

I was proud to be among the over 300 women who during tough economical times made generous contribution to the successful 'Burn the Mortgage' campaign on the YWCA Weaver Domestic Violenc Shelter. Sigourney Cheek and Nicky Weaver led a very successful 12-month fundraising campaign, raising over $2 million to eliminate the debt on the YWCA Weaver Domestic Violence Shelter. The facility is the largest domestic violence shelter in the state of Tennessee. Nationally acclaimed photographer, Dean Dixon, snapped the photo which includes many of the over 300 generous donors and will be featured on two area billboards. On Saturady, May 2, 2009, www.Underology.com and www.LIPO IN A BOX.com sponsored the first annual, "A Day at the Derby", an exciting and successful funraising event. The Derby was history making with a lot of talk around Mine That Bird winning the race. I am sure many of you are still talking about it.
"A Day at the Derby" was held at the Crow's Nest in Nashville, Tennessee. What a great venue for a Derby party! There was a silent action, raffle, Kentucky style dinner and of course a "Hat Contest".
With approximately 250 guest enjoying the event it was a great success benefiting the organization PARENTS REACHING OUT.
PARENTS REACHING OUT was founded in 1983 by Derenda Hodge. It is the only agency in Middle Tennessee which provides peer counseling to mothers experiencing high-risk pregancies and to parents of premature or critically ill newborns in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and to parents of children in pediatric critical care (PCCU). This organization serves Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Centennial Medical Center and Baptist Hospital.
Executive Director, Adonis Phillips and co-chairs, Claire Slone and Joanna Thompson stated that they will repeat this event again next year.
